The Origins of: The Road to Athenaeum Series

In 2009 I was toying with a story idea about a young man and his adventures with a robot named Sprung. As I started developing the entire thing, I quickly realized that the story was not going in the "lighthearted" direction that was orinally intended. Maybe it was that I could not come up with a lighthearted story, or maybe there was something more pyschological that needed to be expressed.

The first chapter started out as a book called: The Mechanoid Messiah which was published in 2010 at Amazon.com. However, this ended up not being the story I wanted to tell. So I totally retooled the story. I decided to do it as a screenplay, and I changed the title to: The Mechanized Messiah, to reflect the story changes. I quickly discovered that I am a far better screenplay writer than I am a writer of books. I love the screenplay format; and I have always connected more with the world of the cinema. However, reformatting the story set me back, timewise.

I feel the revised story is a better treatment, and I was able to develope the characters even further. My favorite western movies are: Once Upon a Time in the West, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I love the cinematography aspect, the most. To me, the test of a good movie is whether you can turn off the sound and still receive quite a bit of enjoyment out of it.

I want to capture the epic quality of these two movies in my writing.
